How does it work?

Virtually invisible

Our strips are glued into the window frame and are therefore invisible from both the outside and the inside. This ensures compliance with historic preservation regulations and preserves the appearance of beautiful old windows.

Questions & Answers

Can I install the strips myself?

Yes, the strips are designed so that you can install them yourself – without any drilling or screws. They are simply attached to the window frame using the existing adhesive strip; the silicone seal is already integrated into the strip.

However, it's important to note that installation can be a bit trickier with typical older windows (e.g., box-type windows), as these are often very individually constructed. With a little patience and our step-by-step instructions, however, installation is possible even in such cases.

In short: Yes, you can install the strips yourself. If you have several windows or are unsure, we recommend practicing the installation of the first strip carefully – after that, it usually goes much faster.

Can the strips simply be removed again?

Yes, the trim strips can generally be removed. Whether this can be done completely without leaving any residue depends on the condition of the window frame and the paint. A cutting wire, which is available in any hardware store for a small price, has proven effective for this. If you are unsure, please feel free to contact us – we are happy to help.

Do I need any tools?

You don't need any special tools for installation – the strips are glued to the window frame using the adhesive strip.
To ensure the best possible hold, we recommend:

  • fine sandpaper to lightly roughen the frame
  • Alcohol (e.g., acetone or isopropanol) and a clean cloth to thoroughly degrease the frame.

The combination of both provides the best hold.

If you choose the option to cut it yourself, a fine saw and a miter box will also be helpful to make precise cuts.

For later removal, an inexpensive cutting wire from the hardware store can be practical.

Are my windows suitable for these moldings?

These strips are specially designed for classic wooden windows – especially in older buildings. They adhere to smooth, solid surfaces and blend seamlessly into the frame.

Important: The frame should be stable, clean and not badly damaged.

The strips will generally also adhere to plastic or metal windows, as long as the surface is smooth and load-bearing.

If you are unsure, feel free to send us a photo of your window – we will check free of charge whether Dichtungsklick fits or whether we have an alternative strip for you in our product range.

What color are the strips?

The wooden strips are pre-treated with a primer. This makes them appear slightly lighter, but they are not yet protected against weather or corrosion. Therefore, you can paint them directly in the color of your window frame to achieve a perfect match.

When ordering, you can choose the silicone seal itself in either white or black – depending on what suits your windows better.
